Rainbow Honey April Mystery Bag: Unboxing!

Had to post this before I leave and before it disappears into the vast depths of irrelevance but here's the latest and greatest Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag! This is the first month that Rainbow Honey has offered "full size" mystery bags but I decided to opt for a "mini size" just in case something doesn't suit me and I would just buy ALL OF THE THINGS! for the stuff that I liked. Onto this month's reveal!...

Rainbow Honey April Mystery Bag

As you can see, Rainbow Honey has decided to stick with the customized Mystery Bag large sticker seals. As I stated for last month's Mystery Bag, I really like this packaging because it's minimal and it gets right to the point - not a lot of waste or hoarding pretty packaging. Really like that. Upon opening, all the contents are in a secure bubble wrap pack.

Rainbow Honey April Mystery Bag

And seriously JUST WOW! There is SO much stuff in this month's Mystery Bag - I love it! I hope all future Mystery Bags are this dense! So much stuff! Check it out:

Love, The Rainbow Honey Lab (see you next month!)

Here's a picture of the Rose Nectar lip balm. I love that it's the same size as a lighter, haha! I haven't seen this kind of shape before. The smell is quite nice but I haven't tried it just yet.

The disposable pigment applicators are packed in a cute compartment and are colourful! There's always colour everywhere with Rainbow Honey.

And here's the Sparkling Agave Cosmetic Pigment. I love the heck out of this colour but it looks awful with my Asian skintone alone! I would definitely have to mix it with some white or silver eyeshadow. I honestly don't use that much eye make-up so this is one reason why I am glad I stuck to the mini - would hate to see such lovely product go to waste! BUT LOOK AT THAT SHIMMER!

Here's the 10 nail art studs - honestly you can never have too many nail studs! I definitely prefer triangle or tear drop shaped studs but squares can easily be turned into diamonds... Hehe, anyone remember Diamond Shreddies? Haha!

Rainbow Honey April Mystery Bag

Lastly, here's the polishes that came in the Mystery Bag and they are perfect for spring: Cameo 18, a neon pink creme; Stellar Treat, a glitter topper and All Your Base, Rainbow Honey's first basecoat.

Rainbow Honey April Mystery Bag

Cameo 18 is a sunny weather ready neon pink. Not sure if i can pull this one off with my skintone but I definitely think I can with this one! I know it suggests to pair it with Stellar Treat but fuck that shit, I would top it off with Yoshimi!

Rainbow Honey April Mystery Bag

Here's All Your Base!, a new basecoat from Rainbow Honey. I looooove the name but I am unsure if I would use this. I am a huge fan of Nail Envy but I would probably give this a shot!

Rainbow Honey April Mystery Bag

And lastly, here's Stellar Treat - a pinkified version of The Soiree which was in last month's Mystery Bag!

Rainbow Honey April Mystery Bag

Overall, I am REALLY excited about this month's mystery bag and am looking forward to the next one. Definitely a big bang for your buck at $10 for the mini Mystery Bag and now it's available as a subscription. One downfall is if you are Canadian (like yours truly), the shipping cost is $7 - so you're pretty much looking at about $20 for each mini bag after the currency conversion. Rainbow Honey is working to resolve this so hopefully we'll see a more easily accessible option in the future!

What do you think about this month's Mystery Bag? Is there anything in here that makes you wish that you got it in a full size?

Rainbow Honey March Mystery Bag: Unboxing!

It's totally late for this post but I got my March Mystery Bag from Rainbow Honey fairly late - nonetheless, I got my April Mystery Bag on time and I am going to be bold and post that today as well. Two posts in one day?! This is insanity! But seriously, I gotta make up for all the time I am going to lose somehow! Anyway, here we go - March Mystery Bag from Rainbow Honey... REVEALED!

Rainbow Honey March Mystery Bag

Rainbow Honey March Mystery Bag

Rainbow Honey has now switched to a customized printed Mystery Bag sticker to seal the tissue paper wrapped pack. I think it's mega cute and honestly I hope they never switch to some sort of box because it makes you collect waste - or throw away pretty boxes - so having a nice simple pack is the way to go! On unwrapping the tissue paper, the contents are packed securely in a little bubble wrap pack:

And the contents unveiled!...

Love, The Rainbow Honey Lab (see you next month!)

Here's the Lavandula mini rollerball perfume. This time, it came is a sealed wrap with a sticker. Even though it was sealed, it managed my make my second (yes I have two) Rainbow Honey Helmer drawer smell like lavender! And you know? I LOVE LAVENDER so that was totally fine by me! Itty bitty rollerball, ah so cute!

Here's the Nail Honey Hand Cream sample. It is a simple squeeze packet. I haven't tried it yet but I've been very happy with the cuticle oil and rollerballs so I have good feelings!

And of course, certainly not least - always my favourites... The polishes! Here's All My Stars, Cuticle Oil and The Soiree minis:

All My Stars has mixed circle and star glitter with a touch of shimmer:

Rainbow Honey March Mystery Bag

The Soiree is similar to "The Worst Possible Thing" in glitter make up but in royal blue and some black star glitter thrown in. Lots of fun:

Rainbow Honey March Mystery Bag

Lastly, here's the Cuticle Oil which has a really nice fresh somewhat fruity somewhat sweet somewhat a hint of floral. I wasn't sure about this product because I am SO attached to my cuticle sticks but I didn't mind using this for pushing back my cuticles. Easy! And such a nice scent!

Rainbow Honey March Mystery Bag

Anyhow that wraps it up for the March Mystery Bag! I love the contents. For April, there was an option to get a full size Mystery Bag which I highly considered but I think I am going to have to go with the masses on this one - I might as well go with the sample sizes and purchase the big ones if I like the product!

Have you signed up for the Rainbow Honey subscription Mystery Bag yet? Did you go big size or small size? How do you decide on when to buy a full size product?

Essence 'Ticket to Paradise' Dive With Me To The Island Swatch and Review (Bonus: Rainbow Honey Bubble Beam)

Alright so I haven't posted any of it yet but I am just addicted to outlining and doing geometric designs on my nails lately! I've decided to actually update this blog once or twice a week while I am abroad that way I can show off these designs I've been playing around with and well, maybe I can talk about any polish I spot in Ireland, England and Paris? Oh I didn't think I mentioned it before - but that's where I am going and I'll be flying in just two days, ahhhhh! So much to do! But it's Tuesday so let's chill out and celebrate Cheap Polish Tuesday.

This one is a bit "old" in the fast changing polish world but this is Essence Dive With Me To The Island from the 'Ticket to Paradise' capsule collection. It's one of those 'Tiffany blue' type of shades and is meant to be a jelly (or as they say a "semi-transparent nail polish"!) as the other shades in the collection. The formula was good, my second coat applied a bit patchy and I was worried but it was self-levelling and evened out. Only needed two coats after all! Here's my swatch in two coats, with no top coat:

And for funsies, I finally took out Rainbow Honey Bubble Beam to add a bit of shimmer over top. Not the best colour to showcase Bubble Beam in all her blue shimmery glory, but it can be subtle too!:

Essence 'Ticket to Paradise' Dive With Me To The Island Swatch (with Rainbow Honey Bubble Beam)

And here it is matted with Cheap Polish Tuesday's favourite cheap matte top coat from GOSH. There's really no taming that shimmer at all:

Essence 'Ticket to Paradise' Dive With Me To The Island Swatch (with Rainbow Honey Bubble Beam)

Overall, I still love this polish - it had a nice natural shiny finish; sure it's not unique but it had a great formula. Another winner, another great "bang for your buck" in Cheap Polish Tuesday.

So now that I am bringing a checked baggage, I think I might bring my nail strengthener and a couple of polishes, hehe. Is this absurd? I hope not. What do you think of these Tiffany blue polishes? Have you had enough of them? I certainly haven't!

Monarch Butterfly Wing Nail Art

You know that moment when the clinic says that there's a two hour wait, only to return after two hours and there's another 45 minutes wait? Yeah? Yeah. Anyway while I was waiting I ended up buying some Heys luggage from Winners where I continued to panic on whether or now I should check a bag. (My BFF suggested that I do since it's a month long trip.) All ironic because by the time I got to the doctor, I was in a frenzy and I just needed a refill on my Ativan. How about that! Anyway, it's Monday so now it's time for Shitty Nail Art Monday, I am gonna bring it all back!

Monarch Butterfly Wing Nail Art

Here's some Monarch Butterfly Wing nail art! I had originally made these for the "animal print" challenge that Caitlin and I were going to do but ultimately like my leopard design more. I made this design by painting my nails all white, then sponging a gradient using Color Club Daisy Does It and Color Club Berry and Bright. I painted the black art with a fine nail art brush and then used a dotting tool for the white detailing.

Monarch Butterfly Wing Nail Art

Here's a list of all the materials I used for this nail art:

+ dotting tool
+ fine nail art brush
+ make-up sponge
+ Zoya Snow White
+ Color Club Daisy Does It (yellow)
+ Color Club Berry and Bright (red)
+ OPI Black Onyx (black)

I'm not completely thrilled with the outcome of this but it was a first attempt and I've been practising with a striper brush (OMG WHY DIDN'T I DISCOVER IT SOONER) and could probably do a better job next time. Hopefully, anyway. Here's some more shots:

So any travel savvy ladies want to give a not-so-savvy lady on check in luggage? Could you live out of a bag for a month, when you have people to impress and dress nicely for? Give me your travel hacks! Also, while we're at it: What takes the cake for an animal print theme? Butterflies or leopards?

Zoya Lucy Swatch and Review (Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls Crusader Wrath Resource Inspired Nails)

So as you have probably read before (or maybe you haven't and you're new so HELLO! :D), I am really into Diablo 3 right now. Like, REALLY. It's drugs, plain and simple. It's a lot of highs and a lot of never achieving and the rewards and the not-so-much rewards... It's crazy but you know, it makes me happy and I am going to continue playing it in the meantime. Anyway, today's post is another one that was meant for Reaper of Souls launch week but I was sick and on all sorts of actual drugs, so I've got it for today's week end post.

These are my Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, Crusader class resource (Wrath) inspired nails:

Zoya Lucy Swatch (with Enchanted Polish Djinn in a Bottle)

Zoya Lucy Swatch (with Enchanted Polish Djinn in a Bottle)

I made them plain and simple using three coats of Zoya Lucy, a sheer jelly off white polish and one coat of the lovely Enchanted Polish Djinn in a Bottle. Seriously perfect for the light and "holy" look of the Crusader class' resource globe that you see on the screen.

Here's a swatch of Zoya Lucy, building it up... Here's one coat...

Zoya Lucy Swatch

Two coats of Zoya Lucy...

Zoya Lucy Swatch

And three coats of Zoya Lucy!

Zoya Lucy Swatch

Overall, it's a very nice jelly polish. It's applies gently and smoothly. I wouldn't say it's that special in any way but I love Zoya polishes and I love jellies, so this one's great. For the final touch on the Crusader Wrath nails, I used one coat of Djinn in a Bottle, and IMHO - is a must-have for every polish stash! Here's one coat over three coats of Zoya Lucy:

Zoya Lucy Swatch (with Enchanted Polish Djinn in a Bottle)

My lightbox unfortunately doesn't let the holographic rainbow nature of Djinn in a Bottle, but trust me - it's a stunner in the summer!

What's your drug of choice? (OK, maybe you won't want to answer that, haha!) What do you like to do with your jelly polishes?
