NYC New York Color Tudor City Teal vs. Essie Turquoise and Caicos Comparison Swatch and Review

It's Friday, I'm groggy and I am eating Halloween Oreos. That sums up my life right now, haha. I am thinking about going to some Pokemon events tonight and tomorrow but I guess we'll see how that goes. In the meantime, I have a polish comparison post. Meet our contenders: New York Color Tudor City Teal vs. Essie Turquoise and Caicos. Tudor City Teal usually retails at Wal-Mart for $1.49 and Turquoise and Caicos can be found anywhere from $7.99 to $13.99 depending on where you buy your Essie polish.

So here's a quick look at the bottles:

You can see that Tudor City Teal is the slightest bit more richer or saturated than Turquoise and Caicos. Tudor City Teal looks a little more blue and Turquoise and Caicos is a bit more green. I would say that they are still both the same amount of dusty, though.

I will say this off the bat but I hate the formula for Essie Turquoise and Caicos. It's so awful. It's patchy and uneven and really thin for what it's supposed to be. Tudor City Teal on the other hand applies very nicely and smooth. Here's a check-in at one coat:

At two coats, Tudor City Teal is pretty much good to go whereas Turquoise and Caicos could use another coat. Here's two coats with no top coat:

Overall I think they're similar enough to not require having both of them in your collection. If I had to pick one, I would definitely go with New York Color Tudor City Teal because not only is it far cheaper in price, but the formula is just so much better.

What do you think of these two? Do you think they're similar enough? Is there one you prefer over the other?

NYC New York Color 152 Tudor City Teal Swatch and Review

Oh hey guys, it's Cheap Polish Tuesday-Well OK, it's not really but it's gotta be Tuesday SOMEWHERE in the world, right? Actually scratch that, I think Pacific Time is one of the last to hold onto the days. But let's pretend. I'm here after all so we might as well make the best of it. Today I have a polish from NYC New York Color. I picked this one up from Wal-Mart for a mere $1.50! Yeah man, that's even cheaper than the dollar store polish I found that one time! Let's move on.

This is NYC New York Color Tudor City Teal which reminds me of something but we'll get to that later. Tudor City is a dusty to the extreme mint teal creme. It reminds me of those vintage seafoam guitars, vintage seafoam dentist chairs. Vintage seafoam anything, really. Formula wise, it wasn't too shabby. It was definitely on the sheer side and it covered OK in two coats but a third was required for maximum opacity. Here's my swatch in two coats, with no top coat:

Not bad for a base creme! How does it do with some glitter swag? I put on one coat of Rainbow Honey Magic Cake to find out. (Oddly enough my Magic Cake mini is running low! I guess it's not that surprising though.):

Not shabby at all, am I right? Anyway what I was saying before... Doesn't this remind you of a little infamous polish called: Essie Turquoise and Caicos? It reminds me of the same type of dusty seafoam that I remember. I may have to do a comparison soon but off the top of my head - damn they look similar! Except one has a better formula!

What do you think of this polish? Worth $1.50 or what? Does it also remind you of a little infamous dusty seafoam colour as well?
