Rainbow Honey February Mystery Bag: Unboxing!

OK I am going to try something a little different here. As you might have read, I broke not just one but two nails while moving around computers at my work, so I will be spreading out my backlog a little more. I'm buying an extra day of post! So typically I show off just nail art and nail photos but I personally get SUPER FREAKING excited when I get nail mail - and Rainbow Honey has introduced their "mystery bags" in Christmas. It was a HUGE hit that they introduced them again for February and I have a sneaky feeling that they're here to stay. Why?, you say? Because this one was explicitly labelled as "February's Mystery"... Oh God, more to come? IN EITHER CASE, LET'S GET TO THE UNBOXING!!! (And don't laugh at my broken thumbnail, siiiigh!)

So it came in a simple pack like this:

Upon opening, revealed a bubble wrapped pack:

Here's the "February's Mystery" card. Oh God, "February's Mystery"? Does that mean another one is coming?!

Here's what the card read:

And since it's not longer a mystery, tell us what you loved the most - and tag your posts to make sure we see them! / #RainbowHoney #RainbowHoneyLab #RainbowHoneyMysteryBag / Thank you again for being such a loyal fan! Love, The Rainbow Honey Lab (see you in March!)

Wait wait wait - SEE YOU IN MARCH?!?! OH GOD ANOTHER ONE IS COMING!!!!

Anyway, here's the new nail art glitter. This is a brand new product, in my knowledge of Rainbow Honey, I don't think they've had a product quite like this. I got a nail art glitter called "Electric Love". It made a bit of a mess in my Mystery Bag with some loose glitters sitting right in the bubble wrap pack but nothing too severe. Looks like this one consists of opalescent microglitter, neon lime stars, hot pink hearts and squares, and matching lime green and hot pink smaller hex/square glitter. Not sure how applying this will be clean at all - might be a mess! But nonetheless, colour me intrigued. (And neon!)

This is the Sakura Maturi Eau De Parfum Mini Rollerball - and I'll be honest, I don't remember Rainbow Honey offering perfume before. I was pretty tunnel visioned with the MLP polish though, so that could be why. Anyway, apparently this guy is "making a return" for the spring. I personally LOVE the small of Sakura Matsuri - I was first introduced with the scent with the cuticle sticks and I freaking LOVE IT. This tiny package is also super freaking cute. I am dying. Check out the mini cuteness:

And now my favourite part... THE POLISH MINIS! I got Poffin Party, Sparkling Agave (love that name) and Unscented Top Coat. How coincidental is it that Poffin Party matches the palate of Sparking Agave perfectly? Initial thoughts: Sparking Agave looks shimmering and amazing. Really love that shade and the name sake! Seriously can't wait to swatch it. Poffin Party, I gotta swatch - I think dot/circle glitter can be hit or miss and depending on the glitter. I've seen a lot of circle/dot glitter to be quite thick and it's very unflattering - not sure if it's just something I see, or what not. Anyway, I can't really tell from the mini bottle if the glitters are thick or not, but I gotta say that I love that colour palette! Reminds me of a subdued Magic Cake!

So I hope you enjoyed this "UNBOXING" post! I know it's not my nails, but my thumb and index nail are hurting and I think it'll be a couple of weeks to get some growth back.

Do you like these kinds of UNBOXING posts? Should I keep going with it? Did you grab Rainbow Honey's February Mystery Bag? What did you get? Are they the same? Or are there a few permutations going around? Be sure to let me know - as a huge fan, I'd love to know!

    1. I think I'll unfortunately be getting suckered into this monthly - but now I have to pay for shipping. *pout* #firstworldpolishproblems I don't often buy hauls of polish so these types of posts will be rare! (I think!)

  2. Haul posts aren't usually my cup of tea, but I'm Such a sucker for a mystery box that I love this too! I've been dying to know what's in these boxes, so thanks :D AHHH THE COLOURS! Is it March yet?!

I'm curious if her glitters are solvent safe for frankening, or just making the best of a solvent-prone batch. I usually apply them by painting a shape with a clear, slow-drying top coat and then just dip my finger in and shake off excess. Tends to be pretty textured, but makes less of a mess and you can kind of pat them flat. Alternatively, keep it in your pocket for self defense glitter bombs :DD

    1. i thiiink the glitters are solvent-safe! i was just checking out @rainbowhoneylab on instagram and there's a photo of the upcoming glitters that says they're "solvent resistant." (i'm not sure if that's the same thing... D:)

    2. Looks like the glitters are solvent safe! But I don't think I'll be frankening any time soon. I am not an adventurous person, haha! I'm definitely going to try your method of applying glitter - I think if I did what I had in my mind (a la dipping my whole hand into the jar), it would be a friggin DISASTER!

Hehe glitter bomb defense - I like that. It would be our signature move if us polish fiends were in Street Fighter. :)

    1. Hehe I like Mystery Box posts! Mostly because I like living vicariously through the recipient. I got lucky because this time I was the recipient! I think these Mystery Bags are a huge hit for me. I'm going to have to get in on the March one now.

  4. YES you should keep going with these :D I love mystery bags/boxes, especially if they're filled with awesomeness like this one.

You should be a Rainbow Honey spokesperson, btw ;)

    1. Haha I wish I could be Rainbow Honey's spokesperson. I'm just a loyal fan from the beginning, hehe. They're the ones responsible for my polish obsession (they're the culprit!).

  5. Mystery Bags are so exciting! One of these days I'll get one for myself. :)
But please keep on posting them, they're great for us to see what's coming up too!
Omg I almost died of cuteness over that mini rollerball. Seriously!
When I first read about the nail art glitter I thought it would be a mix of big glitters to to glitter placements with, but I agree that it looks a bit messy given all the tiny bits in it. Is it a "dip your wet nail in it" kind of thing? Hmm... interesting.

    1. Haha! I thought of dipping my whole nail into the container too! I guess that's why I shouldn't have nice things, hehe! When my stupid pinky nail grows back I am going to have to give it a try - I just know I am going to make a huge freaking mess, haha. I've got some plans up my sleeve though. ;)

  6. this is so cute, especially that tiny perfume, and the mystery bag is awesome ! I wish I was allowed to buy things haha but I really need a spending break so I will just lust over these from afar. Can't wait to see the polishes on your nails :)

    1. I HEAR YOU on the spending break, YIKES! I just booked my trip to Europe along with some transit and now saving up for the trip but not only that - I couldn't pass down an offer my friend had. He was selling his old D700 and I had to get in on it for this year's wedding season. Life is expensive. Can we just win the lottery? K thx bye, haha.

  7. i went and grabbed a mystery box after reading your post, lol. what an enabler. D: i wanted an excuse to grab candy mountain anyway!

my box was mostly the same; i got all the same polishes and only the glitter was different. instead of "electric love," i got one called "have a heart." it's iridescent shimmer + teeny pink circle glitters (smaller than the ones in poffin party) + pink squares + what looks like really small hex glitters in varying shades of pink (but it's so tiny it's hard to discern a shape among all the other stuff) + pink and white hearts. i honestly have no idea what to do with this! maybe add it to one of my many RH mini topcoats and see if i could apply it that way? i feel like the glitter would sink badly in it, though, and i'm not sure how to cleanly apply it otherwise.

i'm also not generally crazy about circle glitter because i hate the way they tend to stick up off the nail – i feel like it makes the topcoat look wavy/uneven and adds weird shadows to your finished nails, idk. :x but the ones in cutie pie were all right imo, so i'm hoping poffin party will be the same! the colors are sooo cute, so fingers crossed. & sparkling agave is AMAZING and definitely my favorite thing in the whole box.

omg this reply is so long i'm sorry. so many words. so many feelings about rainbow honey. ◕﹏◕

    1. I am excited for Candy Mountain! I haven't tried it out myself yet but I love the name sake. I just hope the circle glitters are OK. I don't know why I am so picky about circle glitters but serious some people need to be careful! I trust RH though.. Yes, I do. For the most part. But I totally agree with you on circle glitters. It's so uneven a lot of the time. :<

Oh what! Have a Heart sounds frigging CUUUUUUTE!!! I am too terrified of putting the glitters in the top coat - I am waiting for someone else to do it first, lol... Maybe I'll egg you on to do it... (Pssst... Do it. Tell me what it's like! LOL.)

And please, blab away about Rainbow Honey. I am probably one of the crazier RH fangirls out there... One day I'll post a pick of my RH drawers.... o___O

  8. My teenager loves polish and I want to do the mystery bag, but curious to know if yours was the mini version or the full size version? $10 vs $25

    1. Hi Angie! Yes, Rainbow Honey is knocking it out of the park lately. For this version, it's a "mini" mystery bag - the full size version I believe has full sized polishes (15mL bottles as opposed to 5mL). I saw some photos on Instagram for the April mystery bag and I spy some eye shadow. :)
