So I said I would do that thing where I was going to schedule my posts but alas, I am actually sick from work and at home today so here I am, doing it live. As some of you know, I recently became obsessed with Animal Crossing: New Leaf for Nintendo 3DS. I didn't update that I've actually fallen OUT OF LOVE with it. I know, I know - it's sad. I hadn't played any other titles since the original Animal Crossing for Game Cube and I wasn't aware they added a "feature" in City Folk called grass deterioration and wear, where running in your town actually wears down the grass and you are left with muddy patches. It's ugly.
Well, grass wear is back in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and it wasn't until I posted a #whatimdoingnow post on Instagram and Amanda from Sweetheart Nail Art told me that her brother runs in her town, ruining her grass. Ruining her grass? But I run all the time... Yeah, I found out too late. There is mud all over my town and it seems like there's no fixing it. I've stopped running, I've planted flowers over the trouble patches but it still seems to spread.
So here's my Shitty Nail Art Monday ode to grass deterioration in Animal Crossing, which I give a clear "fuck you" to:
I used OPI Jade is the New Black as a foundation, and I sponged on Color Club Earthy Angel on the tips, and as a highlight healthy grass nail, I used a dotting tool and used a mixed palette of OPI Jade is the New Black, OPI Alpine Snow, Zoya Dree, and Zoya Noot. I topped it off with a layer of Seche Vite.
There we have it - grass deterioration nails because I am a sad panda. And I am going back to bed because I still feel like a huge poop.
Did you know about grass wear and deterioration in Animal Crossing? What did you do to resolve it? What are your thoughts of it? Is it necessary?
OH NO. Umm.... where are you supposed to walk then? I notice I have bare patches but I don't think it's as bad as yours? EEK :( I don't really know quite how to play the game yet but it is going okay for me! I just catch a lot of fish and dig things up.
ReplyDeleteSuch sad nail art though! And sad sickness. Feel better!

I had to come back and check this out again because it is so sad! :(
ReplyDeleteLOL I just like that you came back here because it's so sad. IT IS SO SAD. I am honestly going to take a long break from it because I don't know what to do about the rain situation. I see that it's kind of stopped? But in some parts it got worse? It says to plant flowers and water them everyday but holy Hell, I have so many flowers, I am not even joking - it would take 45-60 minutes a day to water them all...
DeleteFML.
I'm lost on the game but I can totally see your frustration :(
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's better so I can put my focus into other projects, LOL. At least that's what I am telling myself!
DeleteI hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThat really sucks about the game, but talk about inspiration for nail art!
I have to look for that Jade is the New Black because I don't have any greens in that shade yet.
OPI Jade is the New Black is awesome. It was one of my first polishes but I have to warn you - it is a bit of a stainer. I was wearing it when I was holding my friend's Green Ranger Dragon Dagger (HOLY HELL THAT SOUNDED DIRTY, LOL), but anyway, I took some pics and when I took off the polish, my nails were a bit yellowed. Total bummer. I still like it for short term use and nail art though.
DeleteI don't play the game but I love the mani nonetheless :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you are sick and I hope you feel better. I haven't notice this "grass deterioration" but I haven't played in a week. Which reminds me, I have to log in soon and get the special limited edition item. Anyway, I'll have to check back with you on this whole grass thing. I run everywhere because how am I suppose to get to places if all I do is walk.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, though your nail art is about this sucky part of the game, I think it looks very pretty. I like the polka dots a lot.
Apparently you just have to get used to walking around town. You can also lay down paths but I hate paths because they are very... I dunno, square-like? I think they just look bad. And the layout of my town doesn't really open up to making paths that only go in squares. Sigh. Oh well, at least you aren't addicted! I think this might be better so I can just pace myself with the game? MAYBE? Ugh.
DeleteFrom what I read on the Internet, walking wears it down, too, just much more slowly? And supposedly it grows back. But siiigh. I wonder if you can lay out stone paths like the areas in front of the official buildings, that would at least look better.
ReplyDeleteYou can lay paths and patterns down, but the grass wear still happens underneath. I think it's such a horrible feature of a game. I was going to write a huge nice review of it, but it loses a whole point because of the grass wear. Ugh. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A FUN SIM GAME TO ESCAPE REAL LIFE.
DeleteAre you back to playing again? My 7yo really wants us to visit someone else's town and I don't actually know of anyone who plays. I know I can get friend codes on the Internet and I don't really "know" you, but I trust you to not be an asshole. Heh.
DeleteAw I am not back playing Animal Crossing yet! I turned it on last week and although my grass has actually grown back - it's still not 100% and it just made me sad still, LOL. I would totally let you guys visit my town! It's not that interesting, haha. Mostly because I've been away from it. I hate Animal Crossing assholes - this one guy visited my town and dug holes everywhere. Thanks man.
