Welcome to Cheap Polish Tuesday where we of course, explore polishes found on sale or regular price for $5 or less! Today I have a polish from Wet N Wild's collaboration with Fergie. There were quite a few of these when I saw them at Wal-Mart and this one cost about $2.97 up here in the cold North (well most of the time cold) in Canada.
Today I have Wet N Wild Miami Spirit which is a vibrant teal with slight shimmer. Formula wise, it's great however I found the brush really fat and difficult to work with. I feel like it would be in their benefit to have made their brushes a little less wide, or to round off the sides even more but alas. This polish also does not have a gloss finish, but rather a semi-matte "wax-like" finish. Here's my swatch of 2 coats and no top coat:
Love the external bottle of Wet N Wild Fergie Miami Spirit, but inside the brush is a bit tricky. If it's too wide for my nails, I think it would be really really wide for most! It's even wider than the Essence brush. Check it out:
I can't tell if I have butthurt feelings over the whole semi-matte, wax fad, but I think this colour really benefits from a top coat. I just think it gives it an extra dimension. Here's Wet N Wild Fergie Miami Spirit again with a Seche Vite top coat:
And for funsies, here's Wet N Wild Fergie Hollywood Walk of Fame. I don't think it's very good, haha - definitely one of those "looks nice in the bottle" type of polishes. Also finishes semi-matte and waxy:
I had previously shown this colour in a DAVIDsTEA teal comparison, and it fits in the right hue, but is a touch too dark to be a good candidate. To my knowledge, Wet N Wild does make 3 free and cruelty free polish but I am unsure if the Fergie line is as well. Consider it unconfirmed but with a high possibility.
Have you tried any of these Wet N Wild Fergie line polishes? Or does the Fergie part steer you away? Would you rather your polish dry with a waxy finish or have it with a high gloss?
This is a beautiful colour! But I'm with you on waxy finishes, they're not for me. The top coat really makes it pop though, really nice!
ReplyDeleteThat brush does seem quite wide and I would probably have messy cuticles from it. I love wide brushes, but please round up the tip! Love your bottle shots! :)
I also agree with you about Hollywood Walk Of Fame, it looks nice in the bottle, but is meh on the nails. Is that bar glitter, or is it "broken" pieces of the stars, like if they weren't cut properly and the little bits fell off?
I had a similar experience with a polish that I'll be posting probably next week (nice in bottle, meh on nails). It sucks when that happens.
Yes! I knew you would totally understand! I love wide brushes, but a square wide brush just doesn't make sense! Whose nails are shaped that way, ack! (And also thanks for the bottle pic props, I think you know I like yours best so it's always a nice shout out, lol.)
DeleteAnd yuck, Hollywood Walk of Fame is so gross. I was going to do a highlight post just on Hollywood Walk of Fame - and I still might - but I can tell you now it won't be good!
Lovely! I like it both with and without the glossy top coat. Not too crazy about the stars you added in the last pic though, but that's just me :-)
ReplyDeleteAgreed - the stars are awful. It's a really bad polish. Highly NOT recommended, lol.
DeleteHmmm I guess I'm weird, I really like those fat, flat brushes :/
ReplyDeleteStunning shade though, is it one of those i-love-you-teal-but-why-do-you-stain-so-bad teals? lol!
I love fat flat brushes! But I think it's just too much because the sides aren't rounded enough to get clean lines.
DeleteI didn't get staining from this teal, actually - but then again I only wore it for a day!
Definitely better with top coat. Too bad about the star polish, though. So much better in the bottle!
ReplyDeleteSome things are better left unsaid... Or rather, in this case, unused and in the bottle!
