Rainbow Honey Persephone Swatch and Review

I went through a crazy archive gander last night. I know it's really rare for a lot of people, but I have data on my computer that is over twelve years old. I learned my lessons a looooooong time ago about backing up files, so it's why I've been so diligent since a young age! Nonetheless, sometimes it's a real horror show because you see this younger version of yourself and you KNOW what's about to happen. It's like watching a movie you've already seen before, and you're yelling at the screen, "NO DON'T DO IT!" and yet you have to watch yourself go through things again. But nonetheless, we power through all these things in life, learn from our mistakes and become better people. So what does that have to do with today's post? Absolutely NOTHING! But holy crap I am excited because it's MOAR Rainbow Honey from the surprise best of 2013 blogger samples!

Today I have Rainbow Honey Persephone, which actually just sneaked in and cleared it for the best of 2013 as this was released as a part of the Holiday 2013 collection. This is described on the shop as "Queen of the underworld and daughter of Demeter, this fiery red radiates with gold, copper, and multichromatic shimmer." Application wise, it covered gracefully in two coats without any problems at all. Here's my swatch, finished with a coat of Seche Vite:

I feel like the Holiday 2013 set didn't take many risks with the "red and green" theme of Christmas, but I do quite like Persephone as an individual polish - It's just jam packed with shimmer and I love that the gold and copper really stood out. I think it's a winner on its own because of what it has to offer and I think it will be great as a base colour for some nail art because you can build on complimenting the red quite easily. I chose to accent the gold shimmer by adding some nail art supplies I have from Born Pretty Store. I used a fox rhinestone nail charm as a highlight and gold triangle nail studs at the nail base for the other nails. I think it looks TIGHT!

Do you think Persephone could make it as an "all year round" polish or does it scream Christmas to you? If you had to design a Christmas/Holiday set, how would you do it?

Full disclosure: This sample was provided for an unbiased review.

    1. I think that's actually what made the Holiday 2013 collection special, though - they sold the set as a nail art collection - it's pretty cool, but I do hope that we see something different for this year. They've got a whole 11 months! ;)

I'll always give'r a shot though. You're one of my first nail blogger girl franz. <3

  3. This is a gorgeous red and I could easily sport this all year round. I find it hard to think about a Christmas collection without the usual reds and greens, and maybe some white and blue for snow and stuff, hehe. But then again I'm not big on creativity like that, I'm a simple person. :)
I love the studs that you added, they go perfectly!

    1. Haha I am definitely not that creative so I figure I couldn't be too hard on good ol Rainbow Honey - after all, they did make the Holiday 2013 collection an actual nail art collection so I think that was pretty cool. I don't see many indies doing that. :)

  4. Really love this mani - those foxes and studs are fierce as hell.

Christmas nails to me this year were all about GLITTER - gold, black and dark red/wine base colours. I also went through a brief phase of wanting only white nails with holo glitter late last year, I guess you could call that Christmassy?

And now I'm so curious what old nostalgia you stumbled upon. Text me gurl x

    1. Fox studs are my life!

I did Julia's nails for Christmas and I used Color Club's 2012 holiday foils and then used a mix of gold glitter and bar glitter - it was HOLOGRAPHIC so it was always awesome. You can't get away from the golds, blacks, reds, glitters - it's so staple! I am just being picky maybe, haha.
