Pure Ice Nail Polish Flirt Alert Swatch and Review (Bonus: Rainbow Honey Suu)

So I always thought that if I was ever going to be featured on Kotaku, it would be because of my esports or cosplay photography, but as fate would have it... It would be for my nail art! Last night, my Transistor nails made it onto Screenburn a la Kotaku. Thanks guys for having me - I'm so humbled to be up there! Anyhow, today we're flipping tables and it's Cheap Polish Tuesday! Here's Pure Ice Flirt Alert.

I remember I picked this polish up from Wal-Mart last year - it's been a while now but I believe that these were in the $2 range, which makes it a perfect candidate for Cheap Polish Tuesday. Pure Ice Flirt Alert is a near-neon raspberry creme that has a pretty cringe-worthy name, right next to the last Pure Ice nail polish I looked at named Jail Bait. (It seems like I have a penchant for getting nail polish for the sake of the name!) Formula-wise, it's actually quite decent - a very pigmented and opaque self-levelling creme and you get full guaranteed coverage in two coats. It also has a pretty decent natural shine without the use of top coat!:

For funsies, here's Rainbow Honey Suu over top, with some vanilla highlights:

And then I immediately decided I wanted to go matte with OPI Matte Top Coat because matte top coat and glitter together make a whole lot of magic!:

Overall, it's a pretty decent polish especially considering the price of the $2 range. It's nothing too unique but if you're lacking this kind of colour and might use it occasionally, it's a fairly decent candidate!

Have you ever accomplished one of your goals in a not-so-orthodox way? Or in a way that you wouldn't have expected to? Did you still give yourself a pat on the back? What do you make of NEON raspberry cremes with funny names?

  2. It's always a lot of fun to see glitter mattified! The result is just stunning! I'll have to get Suu over top, that glitter is so pretty!

    1. I thought it was similar to Star Stuff but it's got a lot more smaller glitter bits which are just perfect for that matte top coat. :D

  3. I've never tried Pure Ice polishes, but I always look at them when I'm at Walmart. I agree that this colour is not unique, but if someone is in need then it can't be beat for that price - unless you could get an Essence polish instead cause I just love Essence. :p

And that mattified glitter topper, ah-may-zing!

Congrats on being featured for your nail art! :D

    1. I agree with you - in my opinion, nothing beats Essence for the colour basics and what you get for the price! I hope Canada (namely the west coast) will get that extended line soon - else I just have to keep checking in a half empty luggage when I go to Ireland, lol.

And thank you! I have to admit I had no idea how popular Transistor was so I was happy to see the community approved of some silly nail art. :D
