Rainbow Honey Petit Four Swatch and Review

Welp my tattoo is still peeling - it's getting to that stage where it's super tempting just to peel it all off. I am a bit bad, though - I sometimes "trim" the parts that are already lifted. This is probably too much information. Ah, the life of tattoos... So to paint you guys a prettier picture instead of colourful scabs, here's Rainbow Honey Petit Four, which I received in my May Mystery Bag!

Rainbow Honey is a confectionary polish with a newborn baby yellow crelly, with a playful amount of bright coral and teal glitters. It applies fairly smoothly, similar to Sweet Talk, and I feel like the yellow builds well enough to not have to worry about a base creme. I had to do a bit of patching, but nothing that's a nuisance. My swatch is with two (and a half for patching) coats, and I've used Essence XXXL Shine Gel Look top coat, just to level off the look:

Truth be told, Essence XXXL Shine Gel Look is one of the worst top coats I've ever used due to the fact that it never dries fully and invites ALL THE INDENTS! Not good. So I really just use it when I want to swatch a polish for show. And of course... My outlining impulses couldn't be stopped... So I outlined my nails (again) with a Kiss white striper and slapped on some OPI Matte Top Coat on top of that:

I'm really intrigued by this! I know it's fairly similar to the "Sweet Talk" formula of crellys and glitters, but palette wise, I think it's very pretty! It was a huge hit amongst Rainbow Honey May Mystery Bag recipients judging by the noise on their Facebook page.

Any tattooed readers out there? What do you do to distract yourself from the peeling? What do you think of Petit Four? Any predictions on what the rest of the collection surrounding that polish will be?

  1. At first I thought you meant nail art tattoos, but I distract myself by moisturizing my tattoos like crazy so that it looks all nice and seamless again although I have cheated as well and peeled...

I like Petit Four, but yellows look so bad on me. I still think this is a great colour and I love the neon glitter in it. Looks good on you though and I love it with a matte finish!

    1. Haha I moisturize too and I totally picked it where there's a tiny hole. Sigh, my artist is going to kill me when he sees me next week!

Yellows look really bad on me too, typically. I think Petit Four is pastel enough to have some contrast against my Asian skin tone, but in general, yellows aren't my favourite, hehe. Same with golds. I think this polish is best suited for a more fair skin tone!

  2. I don't know how you did it, but you just made something yellow look... Appealing to me? This is very much not my colour but I love how it looks on you!

    1. I swear it's not so much my colour either! But I do like it - I couldn't wear it for a full week because it's so pretty and distracting haha. Typically Asian + yellow = not good but this was decent. :D

  3. I just got a HUGE rainbow honey haul, and I've noticed you swatch all of your rainbow honeys, do you have any tips for removing the glitter polishes such as this? I had such a hard time and had to pick off the glitters.

    1. I try to swatch all the Rainbow Honeys but I try and switch it up once in a while so it's not Rainbow Honey all the time on my blog, haha. As for glitter removal, I use Julep Party's Over glitter removal kit but have you looked into the foil method? It's just as good!

There's also another method where you can make a glue and water based base coat and it peels right off!

If you're just scrubbing it off with cotton pads and remover, it's going to take a long time! D:

    2. Ooooo! I'm going to have to try that. I have heard the the glue base coat. One last question, where did you get the adorable dinosaur ring and the star and chevron rings in your other blogposts??

    3. Hey girrrrl, awww I am glad you like my rings - I like them too. :3 I got the dinos from Forever 21 and the pointy chevron ring is from H&M. I have several chevrons though - and I got some from F21 and also Icing by Claire's (they had an awesome sale last week - 3 for $15, hehe!)

  4. I've never outlined my nails, but you're really tempting me to try it out post over post x.x
My brother is a tattoo artist, and what he keep repeating is MOISTURIZE THE HELL OUT OF IT. Of course, I wouldn't know about it because I'm still waiting for him to tattoo my leg XD But well, that is my recommendation from hearing him with costumers.
Show us your new tattoo! :D

    1. Hehe I might show off the tattoo one day but I've never showed anything other than my nails on this blog, haha. Maybe one day! ;) For now, I've been moisturizing it pretty hard with Aveeno lotion and sometimes I use borage oil as well. It's just so gross when it peels, haha!

  5. This polish is very pretty, but yellows don't look good on my so it's not something I would wear.

And I don't have any tattoos (although I wish I did - I just don't know what I want), so I can't help you with that.

    1. I would have thought you could pull this one off but I guess I assume anyone with a fair skintone can dig with the yellow, haha!

One thing I wish I did when I was younger was plan my tattoos better - but the thing is I never knew that I would get more. Always just thought I would have the one orchid tattoo and that's all!... 50 hours later...
