"...Smells like minty asscakes." Something along the lines was written on Rainbow Honey's Facebook page recently and of course, I couldn't help but be curious. Now I've been posting my unboxing photos and reveals of their Mystery Bags since their debut and I LOVE THEM. Love them! However, good ol Cthulhu is primarily a nail blog and will always be a nail blog, so while I am digging the nail polishes in the bags o mystery pretty hard *UNF!*, I'm actually getting more non-polish products faster than I am able to use them up! I digress. Here's Rainbow Honey Honeymint.
The packaging is a clean one, and is comparable size-wise to a lighter. I like it a lot.
So, the scent. I didn't find the scent to be akin to "minty asscakes" but I did find that it was primarily mint, and I did get a bit of a sour undertone. Nothing overwhelming. I kind of wish I hadn't read that so my subsconsiousness wouldn't be looking for the smell, but I did get a second opinion from my brother and he shrugged and said, "just smells like mint." So there you have it!
Application wise, it goes on quite smooth - they're very soft just like the cuticle sticks. I find they last a long enough time on the lips but of course calls for a re-application every once in a while. The dial at the bottom pushes up the balm if you turn it clockwise, but beware - turning it counterclockwise did not retract the balm for me! Once it's out, it's out.
Overall, these lip balms are getting rave reviews. Personally for me, I will always stick to my Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment - I make 'invest' about $25 a pop on those lip balms and it's worth it for me as I have absolutely terrible lip biting habits. I bite my lip when I am stressed or anxious! Alas, I need something really heavy duty.
What do you make of Rainbow Honey's lip balms? Did you get Honeymint in your May Mystery Bag? What did you make of the scent?
I also received the honeymint flavored lip balm in my May bag and I thought it smelled just like it should. I also didn't smell any "minty asscakes"
ReplyDeleteHaha but I have to hand it to the author, "minty asscakes" is just so funny to say. Glad that yours was one of the good ones! :3
DeleteMinty asscakes, lol! Glad to know you didn't think it smelled like that. A mint lip balm sounds nice - although my husband is not a fan of mint so it's not something I would get.
ReplyDeleteI love that golden leopard print backdrop! :-)
I think they even said something about "smelly gym socks" as well! I am just glad that I didn't get whatever lip balm they had - hopefully it was just a bad batch maybe! As far as lip balms, I prefer unscented ones! I'm boring lol.
DeleteAnd thanks! Been trying to change stuff up on the blog photo-wise, I am having fun with it so far. :)
Hmmmmm mint <3 This is one of my favourite type of applicators for lip balms too, so I would probably love this!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am so digging all of your new crazy backgrounds!
And it's really minty! I had a bit of a cut on my lip and there was some mint cool swag on my mouth after haha. It's a really cute applicator! But you need to feel that Fresh Sugar Treatment. Mmm brushed metal feel. (But I don't think it's metal, it's just quite niiiiice.)
DeleteI am a Fresh girl too, but I did like the Rose Nectar lip balm I received two months ago in my Mystery Bag. Honey Mint does sound nice though since I like mint and I would be curious to find out how that person on FB decided what "asscakes" smelled like.
ReplyDeleteI am still working away at all the Rainbow Honey products that have come in the Mystery Bags - I haven't got around to Rose Nectar but I only hear good things. :)
