It's the end of the week here on good ol Cthulhu and with the week ending, it's also sadly the end of Digital Nails week. *sniff* It makes me kind of sad actually; I've had so much fun with these polishes! But don't get too sad, Digital Nails is back in Canada, and that's what we're celebrating! Again, you can check out this polish along with the rest of the polishes we've had on here for this week (and real talk: a whooooole lotta other glittery geeky awesomeness!) over at Raphaelle's shop at Etsy. Right here! Enough said... Let's get to business....
Oh. My. Glob. Here's Digital Nails Lump Off!
Here's the colourful packing paper that Raphaelle uses to keep all the bottles of glitter safe in transit. I love it. Seriously makes for a happy day. Let's take a closer look...
From Digital Nails: So, it's no secret that I am a ridiculously huge Adventure Time fan. This polish is inspired by of of my favorite characters on the show, Lumpy Space Princess. In my favorite LSP-centric episode, she dons a ripped single use plastic grocery bag, applies too much red lipstick and sets off, becoming Finn & Jake's secretary in order to write a tell-all book about how to "Be lumping irresistible." Heeeey, Guuurl! Every time they feature her delightfully snarky and sarcastic tough-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside attitude, it makes me smile. She's awesome.
Adventure Time nail polish? Adventure Time nail polish. Seriously. This is a wonderful tribute to LSP and is a glitter bomb comprised of a purple tinted base with violet-purple (more purple) circles, hexes, squares; lavender circles; and matte yellow hexes and star shaped glitter. Whew! That is a LOT of glitter! You can wear this polish alone as it theoretically has enough tint in the case to build but I honestly wouldn't recommend it. For a polish like this, it's best to focus on the glitter coverage and yellow glitter placement as opposed to build up. I used OPI Grape... Set... Match as an undie and used one coat with a bit of dabbing of Digital Nails Lump Off! The matte yellow stars are plentiful, but still need a bit of fishing to get. I accomplished all the stars by shaking the bottle upside down. Lots of stars stuck onto the stem of the brush and I stashed them on the inside of the bottle neck. Lump Off! is quite the glitter bomb so I had to use two coats of Seche Vite because I wanted the look to be absolutely flush. You can get away with one coat - I am just picky!
And because I loooooove matte-ifying my glitters... This was... Just.... UNF, it is AMAZING with a matte top coat, holy oh my glob. I used OPI Matte Top Coat:
And here's some geometry nail art (not my best, I'll admit) made with a Kiss black strip polish and OPI You're Such a Budapest:
Aaaaaaand obvious nail art is obvious. I had to. I just had to guys. Here's my attempt at a LSP feature nail! I used the same OPI Grape... Set... Match for the base colour, and used OPI You're Such a Budapest for her face. I used a dotting tool and a fine nail art brush with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Black Out for her eyes and mouth. Topped it off with Essence Wanna Be Your Sunshine and tried to make it the same size as Lump Off!'s yellow star glitters. Hope I did OK!
This polish is friggin' AWESOME. My only complaint is that I wore OPI Grape... Set... Match as an undie and it was a STAINER. Otherwise, Lump Off! is perfection. Really happy about this one. Admittedly I have only just dipped into the Adventure Time universe, so I can imagine for more seasoned fans - especially fans of LSP - this is a must have.
Any fans of Adventure Time here? What do you make of this ode to LSP? Also, the most important question of all time: To matte, or not to matte - that is the question.
Full disclosure: This sample was provided for an unbiased review.
I LOVE THIS! Amazing polish and great swatches!
ReplyDeleteThis polish is SO awesome - I am so glad to have it as a part of my collection (collection? arsenal? shrine? hehe)
DeleteOoh! That glitter is so cool! I love the yellow stars! Hehe, I also love the geometry nails!
ReplyDeleteMatte or no matte.... I love matte even if I'm hardly using my matte top coats :D
Glitter is just... The way to go. Always looks good glossy but also looks rich matte. It's so hard to pick sometimes!
DeleteThis makes me want to watch Adventure Time, just so I can appreciate the nails (even) more. DAT LUMPY NAIL ART IS EVERYTHING <3
ReplyDeleteI need to get some BACON PANCAKE nail art on. ZOMG.
DeleteLove the colour combo in this glitter mix! Everything on this page is just amazing, from the glitter mix, to your application over that OPI, to the mattifying, and that nail art. Your LSP face is just too cute! And mattify all the glitters! There's just something about mattifying glitters that makes them pop.
ReplyDeleteI definitely can't resist matte-ifying glitters. I am so bad at resisting, it just looks so awesome. :3
DeleteWhat Matte Top Coat are you using?? And I second Bacon Pancake nail art!! MOAR ADVENTURE TIME ERRRTHANG!
ReplyDeleteI use OPI Matte Top Coat for these - and seriously it's my favourite matte top coat. Most matte. SUCH MAGIC. Wow.
DeleteAwww! So cute!!! I love the bright yellow stars.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow stars are such a great contrast! Agreed :D
