China Glaze Glitz N Pieces Swatch and Review

It's the end of the week here on Claw of Cthulhu - It should be the last of my 10 hour shifts at work, I'm still on the hunt for a Star Trek science uniform, and I'm reminiscing about the time where one of my best friends and I were obsessing over 300 and I couldn't get enough of Gerard Butler's thighs. So overall it's been a busy week so let's end it with some polish porn.

I ended up finding China Glaze Glitz N Pieces at a Winners here for $5.99. China Glaze isn't widely available where I live (yay Canada!) so finding anything is always a treat. Ever since the whole Lynderella Connect the Dots and Ninja Polish Sticks and Stones thing - I have always found myself drawn to those solid black and white glitter and bar glitter mixes. China Glaze Glitz N Pieces reminds me of those types of polishes but rather than the solid white glitter, it sports a silver multisize glitter amongst the solid black multisized hex and bar glitter. Most of the overall Glitz Bitz N Pieces collection is like this but substitutes the solid white glitter, with a coloured shiny glitter.

The formula on China Glaze Glitz N Pieces is OK. The suspension base can be a bit thick at times, holding a ball of glitter but overall, one coat of Glitz N Pieces is sufficient to spice up lighter pastel creme polishes.

Here's one coat of China Glaze Glitz N Pieces over two coats of OPI Did It On 'Em:

I tried this polish over a darker polish but I feel like a lot of it didn't work and wasn't flattering. The black hex and bar glitter were hiding so just specks of the silver glitter were peeking. Not sure if I would recommend a darker polish. Here's one coat of China Glaze Glitz N Pieces over two coats of OPI Vant To Bite My Neck?:

My favourite combination (I don't know if it's my biased love for pastel tuquoises) is actually this one. Here's China Glaze Glitz N Pieces over Essie Turquoise and Caicos:

I definitely recommend using a pastel creme when using a polish like this. I am not sure about the the "must-have level" of owning the entirety China Glaze Glitz Bitz N Pieces, but out of the whole collection, Glitz N Pieces is the most versatile.

How do you feel about these kinds of mixes? Do you have a rare bottle of Lynderella Connect the Dots? Anyway some questions there if you'd like to answer. Also again, if you know where I can get a Star Trek science uniform shirt, I may love you forever. Enjoy your Friday and have a good weekend!

  1. I love the Essie turquoise combo. It looks elegant yet with a side of edgy. I was undecided about this collection, but now I know how I could make it work

    1. I think the Essie Turquoise and Caicos combo really reminds me of 80s colour graffiti. Probably my favourite! I was also undecided with this collection but I like it. I think it would also be cool to make a jelly sandwich with a grey or white crelly polish. :D

Not sure if I need ALL the colours, it would be cool (I also have the green one) but different colours do limit. Silver goes with everything!

    2. Yeah I feel this way too. I do love the whole collection, but too many are limiting, especially since it really doesn't work well over dark colours and you couldn't wear red and black over red either... so I don't know what I would wear it over. But it is so pretty. I'm mostly likely to end up with the silver like you. I think that would great over a red as well but I'm biased towards red and black ;) The Essie combo is lovely though!

  2. I don't have any glitter topper mix like this, it's quite nice. And I too am biased to it over T&C. :)

    1. If you can spot it - look out for Hard Candy Black Tie Optional, it's a similar glitter to Sticks and Stones, Connect the Dots, etc - I have been trying to get it but every time without fail for the last month, it's always been out!!!

    2. Yes I need to keep an eye out for that one. I should swing by Walmart this week to see if they have it in stock.

I nominated you for a Best Blog Award! All the deets are in today's post. :)

    3. OOooh thanks for the nomination! I'll have to fill it out once I can nominate 12 blogs, though. Believe it or not, I only follow a handful. I have a hard time finding some good ones!
