Rainbow Honey Costa Del Sol Swatch (Over OPI Black Onyx, Rainbow Honey Be Mine)

As FAB Summer Set week comes to a close, Rainbow Honey is teasing its fans over at their Facebook page with previews of their new set called "The Summer of 199X". If you're a fan, you don't want to be missing out on this. But anyway, I'm still on with the FAB Summer Set - last one! I saved this sparkle monster for last to end the week.

Here's Rainbow Honey Costa Del Sol. From the press release, it's described as "a shimmery lacquer full of iridescent and holographic glitters ready to add some sun and sparkle to your manicure". I would say that's accurate but to be specific, Costa Del Sol is comprised of a saturated mix of gold shimmer, with holographic gold hex and bar glitter. I know, I know - BAR GLITTER RIGHT? Well, this one fights back against that nasty reputation that bar glitter has.

The formula for this is great - just one coat is needed for that extra sparkle and there's no problems with glitter placement on the natural stroke, no sticky suspension base. A perfect glitter topper (and with bar glitter, who would have thought huh?). Here's Rainbow Honey Costa Del Sol over two coats of OPI Black Onyx with no top coat:

And if you've been following along this week - you'll be aware of my latest OPI Matte Top Coat obsession. Obviously I had to see what this looks like with a matte finish!:

I don't know guys, I think this glitter is super gorgeous. I love it over a black for a real stark contrast. On the flip side, how does Costa Del Sol fair against a lighter colour? I chose Rainbow Honey Be Mine from the Sweet Talk collection, which is what I was reminded of with Schrammi and Tenda due to the similarities with tone and gold shimmer. Here's one coat of Costa Del Sol over two coats of Be Mine:

And again with the OPI Matte Top Coat... I seriously can't get enough of this top coat. I am going to take a break from it next week because I know I'll just gush again... But seriously, this is GORGEOUS:

And just to get as much coverage on Costa Del Sol as I can. Here it is again over Schrammi and Tenda:

I have to be honest and say that I thought I owned something similar to this. (In fact, my avatar nails are sporting a glitter topper very similar to this!) But this is a one coat, no fuss sparkle - and I love that extra gold shimmer. Sometimes it just makes a world of difference with the extra bang! I wish you could purchase just the glitter topper alone, but I think it just makes the set that much worth it.

From the press release:

I hope all of you have something fun or relaxing planned for your weekend! I am going to try and walk in my new Jeffery Campbell Litas, hahaha. I haven't worn heels in aaaaages! What do you think of BAR GLITTER? Is this one tolerable enough or are you still on the bar glitter hate train?

    1. Oy I can't get enough of Costa Del Sol in matte either! Now I am just going to have to matte all the glitters - I hope I don't bore anyone with it, hehe.

  2. This looks beautiful over all the colours you used! And of course mattifying it just makes it pop even more.

I actually never tried bar glitter (gasp!). I have a few in my untrieds pile that I should be getting to at some point.

    1. Ugh, I generally hate bar glitter - I think it was OPI Save Me that was just the icing on the cake - it just looks hairy! D: But when mixed properly with other glitter, it can look OK. :)

  3. I love all the combos you share, really gives a great "taste" of the glitter. And this is really pretty! So summery over that pink RH. As a Canadian I won't be purchasing this set (and I would probably rather save my money till I see what the new collection is anyway, because so far it looks amazing!) but I love getting to "see" it anyway. Thank so much for sharing!

(also you are hilarious with the matte top coat thing, haha, I just pretty much always prefer things glossy :) )

    1. It's a real shame that those third party companies charge up the ass for shipping. I don't understand how it gets to be that amount either, it's absolutely absurd. Why would I pay just as much for shipping as the polish themselves? Gah, anyway, I totally just got my US friend to pick them up for me, because after all - I am a sucker for Rainbow Honey. Why does it have to be my Pokemon polish? Why must I catch them all?!

    2. haha! I don't know, but I enjoy seeing them all on your blog :) Luckily I don't feel that way about any particular brand, given that I have way too much polish as it is. (Speaking of which, would love some kind of "tour" of your collection some day! I admit to be incredibly curious :) Do you hold onto all your polishes after swatching?)

    3. Oh God, I have so much nail polish, it's awful. I started collecting 2-3 years ago and only started blogging this year - at least I've got the fodder for content right? I think I actually posted my Helmer on Instagram but it has grown a little bit - maybe by 20-30 polishes:

OK I lied - it's grown quite a bit since then LOL. I have a nearly updated polish spreadsheet! But maybe I'll post a tour of my polish collection if that's interesting enough! :))

  4. I love all the color combos, but the one with the black and the green are probably my favorites!
