Fandom Cosmetics Another! Swatch and Review

It's a Backstreet Boys kind of day - I am sure my coworker is thrilled to hear it but he can blame Seth Rogen and Co. for that one! Today I'm continuing the Fandom Cosmetics week with Another!, a polish from their Avengers Initiative collection. Again, if you're new to Fandom Cosmetics week, they are a relatively new brand on the indie scene run by BFF duo Annie and Leigh, and inspired by all things good and nerdly! Their polish is also 3 Free. If you're interested in good nerdly sci-fi things (I know I am!), check out their shop site here.

So here we have Fandom Cosmetics Another!, which is an obvious and lovely ode to Thor when he tried beer for the first time. Oh lordy, it still makes me laugh when I think of the scene. Annie and Leigh describe Another! as "our Thor inspired polish filled with black, silver, and red hex glitter for Thor's clothing and hammer, and speckled with chartreuse glitter hex for his glorious hair. (We do not recommend replicating Thor’s enthusiastic approval, no matter how much you love this polish!)" I think Fandom Cosmetics is really digging me out of the closet with my love for gold because those chartreuse (apparently I learned a new word today) glitters are in perfect ratio to be the real highlight! Formula wise, this polish was a little awkward as I have the worst luck and one of my brush bristles were bent. I also found that this glitter is SUPER dense. Guys, this thing is easily a two coater hex glitter! So, with that said, in order to accomplish that feat, there was just enough suspension base to apply. With that said, my pickiness of the formula doesn't pull, or dry brush, or ruin the application so all said and done, IT LOOKS GOOD. DAMN GOOD. (Rawr.)

So, here's ONE coat of Fandom Cosmetics Another! over top of Joe Fresh Cherry with one coat of Seche Vite to finish:

I didn't build it to two coats for my swatches. I guess I just like this look enough, kind of in the same spirit as OPI Polka.com or The Living Daylights - just a personal preference. I also didn't want to risk overbuilding, because sometimes the glitters like each other too much and stick together. One coat, I feel like every glitter is showcased and sparkly. Just to show what one coat looks like without a blending base colour, here's one coat of Fandom Cosmetics Another! over OPI Don't Touch My Tutu, with no top coat:

And just for funsies, here's a jelly sandwich of Fandom Cosmetics Another! with OPI Don't Touch My Tutu!:

Overall, I thought I wouldn't like Another!, but I really liked it over red for an extra sparkly look. I think the ratio of the different coloured glitters is freaking awesome; like I said, those chartreuse glitters? Ah-mazing. Again, application is a little awkward but it doesn't interfere with the final result which is... in my humble opinion.... quite sexy. Again if you are interested in Another! and more awesome nerdy fandom polishes, check out Fandom Cosmetics website and shop. Annie and Leigh are super approachable so if you have any questions, they are more than happy to help.

What do you think of Another! and these types of hex glitters? Yay or nay? Do you prefer to build it to full coverage and are now mad at me for not showing it to you in two coats? (I'm sorry!)

  2. Oh man Chris Hemsworth.... can we just google and stare for a moment??
Sorry I got distracted, I actually like this. Sucks about the formula. Maybe you can add some to loosen it up?

    1. wow "add some" that was vague. Add some suspension base or Fix A Flat. thats what i meant

    2. I will probably need to over time as there is just enough suspension base currently. I thought about adding some thinner but ehhhh.... I'll look into Fix A Flat - never heard of it! YOU KNOW ALL THE THINGS.

  3. Ahh Chris Hemsworth as Thor... excuse me while I have a moment...! ;)

I love this glitter mix! I really like the colour mix and I find it has just enough "chartreuse" to not overpower the other colours. :)

    1. OH TRUST ME, I KNOW RIGHT.

I really didn't think I'd like it all that much but it seriously surprised me! I really liked it over red and it was SUPER sparkly.

    1. I think it's a little more revealing so I had to be careful not to put too much or too little - but I think it looked OK... Thankfully, lol.

  5. I am not too crazy about most of the color combinations, but I absolutely LOVE how this top coat looks on top of the red! So gorgeous! I also like that your backgrounds are black, it looks very cool :-) And I think it brings out the true colors of your manis more.

    1. Ah thank you so much on feedback on my backdrops! I always am unsure if doing a black or white background is better. I used to use white but I really liked how black forces the nails to stick out - I am glad you agree! Especially because I really admire your photos too! <3

  6. I'm really excited about these fandom based nail polish. I checked out their other collections and they have so many! Also love the picture of the Sailor Moon one. I might have to splurge on that one when it comes out.

Thought the formula wasn't your preference, I'm glad it still came out amazing, especially over the red. I like it when glitter toppers are easy to coat and have a good balance of glitter.

  7. I really like this over the red and that's a great concept for nail polishes and relating them to your favourite things. I think I might get annoyed with the application on this one, but it is awfully pretty!
