Animal Crossing: New Leaf Nintendo 3DS XL Limited Edition Bundle Inspired Nail Art

Oh hey guys, welcome to Shitty Nail Art Monday! It's been a while since I've done one of these, but as some of you might already know, I was coveting the Nintendo 3DS XL Animal Crossing: New Leaf bundle pretty damn hard! I looked everywhere but it was sold out - I ultimately ended up paying a "premium", or "finder's fee" for one on Craigslist, but I am going to go ahead and tell myself that it was worth it, ha! I love my 3DS XL!

So what else did I have to do with the Nintendo 3DS XL Animal Crossing Edition? (Other than the obviously hours of fishing, picking up shells, and shaking trees for monies) - I had to make some nail art! Haha, OH YES I DID!

I wish I had spaced out my pattern a little better but let's face it - I am not that good at nail art; else if I was, it wouldn't be a Shitty Nail Art Monday! For this nail art, I used Zoya Snow White for the white base, and for the pattern, I used Color Club Almost Famous, Joe Fresh Cherry, OPI Jade is the New Black and Quo by Orly Runway Ready. I used exclusively a dotting tool to draw the patterns.

Man, I had no idea how BIG the Nintendo 3DS XL was until I got my own! Wow, it's HUGE! I used to have to play by taking off my glasses and looking at the screen really close, but this screen is so big, I can play it like normal peoples. Check out how GIANT this thing is!

I also neglected that my 3DS XL Animal Crossing Edition has a nice matte finish, so... I had to add one as well. Oops!

And here's a close-up (but I am willing to admit it looks really bad without seeing the reference, haha):

Oy. Have any of you guys picked up Animal Crossing: New Leaf? I am finding it to be SO fun, and kind of see it as being something that the Game Cube version wanted to be, but didn't have the networking capabilities at the time. It's really fun stuff, I am having a blast. If you aren't playing Animal Crossing, what are you playing these days? Or is the weather too nice for video games?

  1. I love these, they're so fun!!!
I never think to recreate patters and designs from things I own, I need to start looking around the house.

You know what my gaming revolves around... LOTRO! And I still want those map leggings!

    1. Ugh, I want those map leggings too lol - Actually I wanted fancy leggings so badly that I just ordered some knock off ones from Hot Topic. Black Milk has "suspender" (garter) leggings for $99 AUD - but Hot Topic has something similar for $19.50 USD. I think the quality isn't as good but maybe one day if I like them enough, I'll splurge for them!

You should totally make LOTR nails! ;)

    1. Ah thanks so much! I think they're kind of cheesy but against the Nintendo 3DS XL inspiration source, I was surprised they turned out! :D :D :D

  3. Guy here, but I know a friend that will love this idea.

The new game is really great. I'd grown tired of the series, but they really seem to have shook it up with the new one, and I can't wait to see what's next in the game. I actually haven't been able to stop playing for the last two days. : P

    1. Yay! I guess you know you've made cool nails when a member of the male species pays you a visit! Hello! :) I hope your friend does some Animal Crossing nails - I am freaking SO into the game right now.

I was absent for a few of the other titles after the Game Cube version, but I hear that it wasn't really good and nothing was really added to the game. I am seriously HOOKED - Just got my second floor and it'll be installed tomorrow morning! So glad to hear that you're enjoying it! :D (And let me know if you have Apples... lol.)

  4. I have an DS3 I never use whoops. This is great that the size is so large, a bigger screen would be awesome. I'm not familiar with animal crossing but it sounds fun. Your nails definitely match, how celebratory :)

    1. Ah the big screen makes a huge difference! I love the screen - makes playing games really easy. Luxury hand held gaming at its finest! Thanks for taking a look at my cheesy nail art, lol. :3

  5. Hah, so cute :-D I never played the game though. I used to have a Nintendo DS but I ended up selling it because I didn't play on it enough.

    1. Haha good thing you didn't get into it - this game is a time suck! I had to do all my nail photos on Sunday so I could just concentrate on playing all week, hehehehe. ^^;

  6. The limited Animal Crossing edition is so freaking adorable! I wish I had a chance to buy that. I just got a regular 3DS XL and bought the game. I love the game and just having so much more to do. Oh childhood...how it brings back memories. I share it with my boyfriend so he's the mayor and I just live in the town currently but we both can't stop playing. I love the nail art inspired by the 3DS. I really suck at doing nail art too. It all ends up blobby. I have to work on being more ambidextrous and get some dotting tools. :3 Kudos on having the patience to do it.

    1. Ahhhh!~ I know! I totally just had to have the limited edition because the pattern was SO cute, I love mine!!! My brother got the game too and it's totally bringing me back years ago - only this time we didn't have to take turns with the Game Cube - totally cool that each person can just manage their own town! Such awesome stuff. As for nail art - I am sooooo bad at it but honestly, all it is is... a LOT of patience!!! Dotting tools are totally Nail Art 101 so if you are looking to start somewhere, I could see you having some fun with dotting tools! (Psssst: $2 on eBay with free shipping. ;))

  7. Eventually you'll get so good, that it can't be called Shitty Nail Art Monday! Haha. I just play the Wii now, and I haven't since I had my daughter, but I'm a huge Mario fanatic. I love this manicure, though. So pretty and fun!

    1. Hahahaha awwwww well hopefully one day! Honestly I don't think I have the patience to make good nail art, so I think Shitty Nail Art will always be a thing lol (albeit I just can't put "Shitty Nail Art Monday" in my categories in my menu bar, haha!).... Video games are totally fun but are a time suck maybe your daughter will be interested to play some games with you when she's older? I think they're great for hand/eye coordination. :)
