Enchanted Polish Time To Pretend Swatch and Review

After I saw Djinn in a Bottle on Caitlin's blog, I had to figure out what this whole Enchanted Polish fuss was about so when Nail Polish Canada restocked their Enchanted Polish last week - I had to pick up one (or three, rather). Definitely on the pricier side of things - I paid $15 each, which is insane and I must have been out of my mind when I ordered them.

Anyway, here's Enchanted Polish Time to Pretend, straight out of the Time to Pretend collection, which is most definitely a reference to MGMT. I can't find anywhere that says it's based on MGMT but regardless, here's the song Time to Pretend. I definitely was a fan for MGMT for Kids and Electric Feel but haven't quite been into their new stuff; I always thought their songs sounded cheery, colourful and happy and that's what this polish is all about.

Enchanted Polish Time to Pretend Swatch

So here's a holo shot of Enchanted Polish Time To Pretend. As I've stated many times, duochromes and holographic polishes are difficult to photograph - and with that said, Time to Pretend is a duochromatic holographic nail polish. (One would think!) So before I blabber on, just know that no photo can do this polish justice. I've seen this polish on other blogs and even though they've highlighted the holographic nature... It just doesn't quite deliver the magical feel. Anyway, going back, Time to Pretend to a duochromatic purple to bronze shift, packed with a VERY potent holographic effect. I don't mean to give any sort of bias but...

... Enchanted Polish Time to Pretend is fucking awesome.

Formula was amazing, covered gracefully in two coats, quick drying. I am actually still wearing this as of today and not a chip can be found! I painted it on my nails on Sunday - so in addition to it being "fucking awesome", it's also fucking durable. Here's some photos that show off the duochrome shift (again, the holographic effect is difficult to photograph as I am shooting with artificial lighting):

To me, this polish is definitely unique, duel wielding some of the most fetishized polish effects: duochromatic and holographic, binding it in one magical polish. However, the price is not for everyone. I did feel a bit of a wrench in my gut when I received the polishes and remembered how much they costed. With that said, if I do have some extra budget after some annual expenses of mine, I would like a couple more of these polishes. They're great.

One thing that really surprises me is that Enchanted Polish is still using sticker labels for their bottles. I know this is a very small detail but sitting at over 20,000 Likes on Facebook and being able to sell out polishes within minutes of launching on both their retail website as well as partner sites - I am wondering why Enchanted Polish hasn't moved onto screened labels. I really think it would be in their benefit to make the switch.

What do you think of the Enchanted Polish hype? Is it worth all the rave reviews it's getting? Would you pay $15 for a polish? (Am I being too hard on them for the sticker labels?)

  1. Oh wow this is beauuutiful! These types of finishes are always hard to capture on camera, but I find you did a great job.

I have a hard time dishing out $15 for a single bottle of nail polish. I have a few times, but unless it's something I would wear on my nails all the time I don't feel the need. And with so many untrieds I rarely wear the same polish twice, unless it's a base for nail art.

    1. I also have a hard time dishing out $15 for a single polish. Ugh, I still hurt thinking about it but I honestly think I would wear this more. I have been wearing a lot of space/galaxy print clothing and this really goes with my "motif" as of late! But anyway, I would never push this polish on someone because of the price, haha! Definitely only for the enthusiasts! I just think it's crazy how everyone is rabid for this polish. I guess everyone's gotta have something though!

  2. Holographic and duo chrome! My favorite types of finishes especially when they come in the same polish! I think you've captured this one perfectly :)

  5. This is why I love minis...I can't justify $15 bucks for a bottle of nail polish. Aiyah

    1. Are there Enchanted minis? I would totally fancy some minis if it meant that I got to try out more of their polishes!

  6. I have a friend who is interested in buying them but that price is hefty. I've already spent way too much on ILNP and RH. This is just going to be a wish list item for me for the future. It looks amazing on your nails and I feel like you captured it's gorgeous color and sparkle in your photos. I love that it is durable that it almost makes the price seems more reasonable.

I do think for a product and a company that is loved, they should go for screen printed labels. They can even try for a chrome screen to market their holo/duo polishes. Great review and I can't wait to see what else you got in store for us!

    1. The price is sooooo HEFTY. I was seriously so gutted when I got them because I remember the cost of that impulse order. Oh well, damage is done so I might as well enjoy them! I am happy to report that this lasted a full 7 days with 1 coat of Nail Envy, 2 coats of Enchanted Polish Time To Pretend and 1 coat of Seche Vite. Holy shit - I don't think that has ever happened before - and I get anxious a lot resulting in a bad habit of scratching my head. HUM.

And I could totally see them use a chrome screen! I wish they would! It would honestly make their bottles look so epic! I just feel like the sticker kind of represents a cheap product and this is anything but!
