Rainbow Honey Kitsune Swatch and Review (Bonus: Rainbow Honey Yoshimi)

Alright guys last post of the week so I hope all of you have something fun for the weekend. Not me though, apparently I am shooting an event that lasts all weekend. I was fine with the full day on Saturday but apparently I'm doing another full day on Sunday. No rest for the wicked? Apparently!

Today I've got Rainbow Honey Kitsune. It's funny because there was a time in my life where I wasn't collecting them all and I let the Yokai collection slip away. Eventually it sold out and nothing could be done of it. However, they released the collection again into their regular line and thus, the need for ALL THE RAINBOW HONEYS! began. Rainbow Honey Kitsune is an albino gold jam packed with glitter and shimmer that reek of autumn colours - red, gold, orange and little solid speckles and shimmer. This polish has a lot without being loud - just the right amount of subtle. Formula was good - it went on smoothly after 2 coats:

I love the polish and will more than likely be wearing it again especially in the fall but I do think this kind of colour would be better suited on someone with a more fair skin tone. (Too bad! I am wearing it despite my weird Asian skin tone! Mwahaha!)

And for funsies, here's Rainbow Honey Yoskimi on top of Rainbow Honey Kitsune. Kind of a weird combination but oh well:

I don't recommend wearing this kind of combination because the little details of Rainbow Honey Kitsune are being overwhelmed by Yoshimi. I think if any nail art were to be done - a full nail stamp might be the winner here. Really gorgeous on its own.

Anyway that's all - did you get on the Yokai ship before it sailed? I just checked their website and it appears to be sold out again. Any big plans for the weekend? Or am I the only one working 12 days in a row again? Haha, oh the double life I lead...

  1. I LOVELOVELOVE Kitsune. I have the full Yokai, and grabbed it at a discount because they had it at the Philly Christmas Market, which was where they sold all their polishes at a discount. I totally went to town hahaha.

    1. You TOTALLY have the right skin tone for it! And that's so awesome you got the Yokai collection for a discount! If I saw any discount on Rainbow Honey, I would most likely be there in a flash like the crazy fan girl I am.

    2. If I remember correctly, it was like $8/polish and two for $15? I totally went all out. :)

  2. I think this is a nice colour but it doesn't suit my skin tone either. I think the glitter match is really weird haha but I'm glad to see you admitted that. Your shots of the polish really show all the depth it has and I think it would be a great fall colour. Though I tend to wear my polishes whenever, too bad for seasons :P

    1. I definitely think this one is stand alone and I am beginning to see that Yoshimi is most effective over a solid bold creme. I wouldn't even bother with any polish with a prominent shimmer! Vampy colours for all seasons? DON'T MIND IF I DO! ;)

  3. This is beautiful! Fall colours don't look good on me, but I can still appreciate them.

The combo is not something I would have thought to try, but that's the beauty of nail polish, we can experiment! :D I need to do more wild things with my colour combos, I always play it safe.

Working 12 days in a row? That sucks! I'm going to a bachelorette party on Saturday, it should be a fun time!

    1. You know, I don't think they look that great on me either. I still think the dark shades look the best. And even the "Tiffany blue" shades I love so much - definitely not the greatest with my skin tone but I'll do it anyway. Because YOLO. Or something. (What do the kids say these days? Haha!)

This combo is straight up nasty, haha... But to be honest I was getting so sick of seeing everyone use it over top of the Robot collection. I have to be honest - I don't think it's the best over those foils. I really think it's better suited with other cremes like the ones in the FAB Summer Set. Ah well.

Summers are always insane because I do my day job and then run off to do weddings on the weekends or in the evenings. I love it though - Wouldn't give up wedding photography for the world. I hope you ladies have fun at the party! Do up some nice nails for the date!!! :D :D (And share em with us too heehee)

  8. Kitsune is so pretty. I almost grabbed one of those while ordering, but decided I had one like it. Your pictures make it look so much nicer than the polish I already have.

    1. I think the Yokai collection is unfortunately sold out for the time being but I hope they make another run in the fall for those who might have missed it. It's seriously the perfect fall palette.
