Zoya Piaf Swatch and Review (Bonus: Rainbow Honey A Little Kindness)

I am feeling a little blue, so obviously the cure is some yellow. (Wait, what?) Yeah, it makes sense. For serious. So today I've got a Zoya polish, which I scooped up from the impulse buy section by the cashiers at Winners. Usually at Winners, they sell Zoya polishes for $5.99 - I think it's a fair price since I really like their polishes and they're a rare sighting.

Zoya Piaf is a frosty pastel lemon with a bit of shimmer in the mix. It's from the Lovely Collection, released earlier this year in the spring. Formula and application wise, this one went on smoothly after two coats. It's really crucial for a yellow to be even because if it's patchy, it's really noticeable. I would say that if you want to do complete coverage, you can go for a third coat, but I wasn't too picky and I was impressed with the even couple of layers. Here's my swatch in two coats, without a top coat:

Zoya Piaf's lemon meringue hue reminded me of some pony by the name of Fluttershy, so I just had to pull out Rainbow Honey A Little Kindness from the Equestria collection. Here's one coat of A Little Kindness over Zoya Piaf.

And here's my keys - I tend to keep Fluttershy with me wherever I go, hehe:

Do you have a go-to polish when you're feeling bad about things? Are there any other closet bronies/pegasisters out there? Just me? OK.

  1. My BFF's co-workers used to be able to tell what kind of week she was having by the sparkle in her make-up. If it got to glitter eyeliner, watch out!

When I feel glum I tend to go for bright orange, partly for the cheerful factor and partly because my kid loves orange and will say "Mommy, your nails look BEAUTIFUL!" no matter how crummy a job I do applying it.

    1. Glitter eyeliner, that's too cool! I love that actually.

And also I just love your reason for your go-to polish. If I had kids, I'd definitely pick my kiddie's fave colour. That would make my face light up every time. :)

  2. Before I started with the nail polish thing, I used socks. I knit myself a pair of Tang(tm) colored socks which I referred to as "Wellbutrin socks" because it's hard to be depressed when your socks are that cheery.

  3. Teals always make me happier and watching a good romance movie. I love the combination. Totally reminds me of your pony. And that yellow is awesome. I love the shimmer in it and love that it coats so well. I've dealt with some pretty crummy yellows that were super patchy and stained my nails.

    1. What's your fave romance film? I think the two chick flicks that make me cry every time without fail is You've Got Mail, and 13 Going on 30. It's funny because I do see a bit of myself in all of the characters in those films, LOL! Oh lordy!

I had another yellow from Revlon and it was awful, it didn't even dry! Good yellows are so hard to find.

  4. This is a beautiful yellow and it looks great on you! I also love that glitter you added to it, they go so well together.

Teal is definitely my go-to colour, followed closely by pink. And I like adding glitter toppers as well, China Glaze Fairy Dust being my #1 go-to. I also really like Sally Hansen Glass Slipper. They both go with any colour, and will fix any defects in application (streaks and such).

    1. It's still a lot bolder than what I usually go for but I am glad that it doesn't clash with my Asian skin tone. Yellow and all. Har har.

Oooh I forgot! Glitter toppers are totally a nail polish girl's best friend - a touch of glitter always picks me up. Your choices are pretty solid too. Seems like Fairy Dust is a huge hit - I haven't got my hands on it yet!

  5. The yellow looks okay on its own, but with the glittery top coat it really looks gorgeous!

  6. PERFECT combo! I didn't even think about Flutter Shy, you're so right :) Piaf is one of the very few yellows I can stand to wear, and I always load it with glitter. Btw, I'm still uber behind on my blog swatches but I recommend stopping by! I'm taking part in a giveaway with several other awesome folks, and there's an international prize offered by one of them :D

    1. I took a look at that giveaway and seriously all the good stuff is US only! Oh well, I think it's still cool that you considered us International folks, hehe. :) I love this yellow though - so glad I got a hold of it. Zoyas are so rare in this neck of the woods. I wish they had the same deals as they had on the US online shop!

  7. This looks like it could potentially be a dupe for Julep's Nadia. But the PERFECT Fluttershy yellow!
